Introduction
New Horizons is a social group for independent singles over 60 years old. Most, but not all, of our members are based in and around the Auckland Eastern Suburbs, particularly in Howick/Botany/Pakuranga, so most of the events are in this area - however everyone is welcome, and we occasionally go further afield for events.
As all events are planned by individual members with differing interests, there is a variety of events on offer and we encourage everyone to think of new and interesting things to do. We meet monthly to discuss activities for the next month and issue a monthly “calendar”.
Events
Typically, each month we may have

Morning tea in a local café. Explore new places.

A game of snooker, or minigolf

A mystery “AT Trip” using buses, trains and ferries

A walk followed by coffee.

Club and New members afternoon (local pub) – share a drink or meal with existing and new members

Dinner/lunch at various local restaurants

Planning meeting to support members to plan events.

Theatre/movie night

Crafts / games

Other miscellaneous activity/outing such as ferry trips, public events etc.
Joining
You can contact us by email and arrange to come to an event, or you are welcome to just turn up at our monthly New Members session, which is held at 4pm on the first Sunday of the month at the Barrell Inn in Howick. Here you will meet existing members, and we can tell you all about the club. If you are a bit hesitant about coming in on your own, we can arrange to meet you
Alternatively, our membership secretary will send you the details of upcoming events which you might like to attend.
You are welcome to attend up to three events before deciding whether or not to join.
Membership/fees
We have a membership fee which is currently $45 a year. This covers the cost of our annual Christmas dinner and other expenses.
Events held in private homes incur a $3 fee to the host/hostess.
